HoloLens Tutorial Updated for Unity 2017 and MixedReality Toolkit

I’ve updated this tutorial to use the MixedReality Toolkit packages, which is a great improvement. (Nice job MRToolkit team, this was a huge step forward in usability!) I’ve also updated the tutorial to use Unity 2017.1 and the latest Visual Studio 2017. There is an incompatibility between 2017.1 and VS 2017 so make sure to update to the latest patch level that I have linked in the index. The good news is that no code changes were required. This updated version has been checked into Github. Unfortunately the HoloLens Emulator is out of date and no longer works with this tool chain.

HoloLens Tutorial Updated for New HoloToolkit and Unity Version

I’ve updated this tutorial to use the latest version of HoloToolkit, Visual Studio and Unity. Nothing was broken and it looks like Spatial Understanding is getting very close to working in Unity with it’s Holographic emulation! I did have to delete all the files that were generated / built by unity or visual studio to get things working, but no code changes were needed. See below for the index, and expect to see the next section of the tutorial later today.

HoloLens Tutorial Updated for New Tool Chain

I’ve taken the last month off of HoloLens development to spend time deepening my understanding of Unity development.  The release of Visual Studio 2017 and Windows 10 Creators Update has reminded me that it is time to update this tutorial for the latest tool chain and wrap up this tutorial series.  Only a few things were broken and required minor updates, and the whole tool chain feels more reliable and faster.  I’ve updated my tutorial to use the latest version of the HoloToolkit, the recommended Unity version, and the latest Visual Studio version.  See below for the index, and expect to start seeing the rest of the tutorial later this week.
